In the past it was thought that the gods were indescribable beings of such divine power and eternal majesty that it was impossible for humans to truly understand them.

The Theocracy historically was focused principally upon the worship of the Father and the Mother; between them they protect both the soul hereafter and the soul in life, and the Warrior, sometimes called the Child, who had gained great momentum with followers seeking her aid in fighting the forces of the invaders and their demonic allies.

With the introduction of the Fane at the Vale Expeditions, the gods wills could be observed by a wider range of beings, and in Expedition 14 this led to an announcement by the Father and Mother of sweeping changes in the Theocracy, and a new god born from them: The Acolyte.

Henceforth the three now have become The Four
